    Breastfeeding – Supply. Supply. Supply.

One thing that constantly plays on a new mom’s mind is whether she will have enough supply of breast milk. Getting enough milk supply is always a concern for those of us who are breastfeeding. Once the baby has gained birthweight, the primary indication if baby is getting enough milk is the pee count. Babies must pee at least 6 times in a span of 24 hours. Minimum six times over a day. Keep an eye on the weight gain as well. Please download a WHO weight chart, and this will allow you to keep track. The baby should continue on the same line, even if it is second percentile. And…

Apps – New Mom & Baby

Technology is such a wonderful thing, and I have already told you what my favourite pregnancy related apps are. When it comes to a new born baby, there are so many things to keep in mind. how much they eat, sleep, play; their milestones; their growth and so on and so forth. And thanks to the developments in tech, we can have most of that info in the palm of our hands. Here are my favorite baby related apps: Yes, they are free too! BABY DAY BOOK: This is absolutely fantastic; especially during the first few months. It allows you to track a number of things including feeding times – breast…

    Breastfeeding 101

I am fairly sick and tired of women being undermined, and being told they cannot breastfeed due to whatever reasons. I fail to understand why some people feel compelled to tell a woman that they should supplement with formula, rather than supporting her breastfeeding journey. A breastfeeding mom needs all the support in the world. A breastfeeding mom is fragile, and is constantly worried whether she will be able to have enough, or if she will fail miserably and let her baby suffer in the process. What she needs is reassurance and to be told that she is doing the right thing. But there are some things that a new…

    Nursery vs Nanny

Nursery vs Nanny. A question that many new parents have to think about. With my return to work coming up quick, I have to look into care for my lil one; I had to look at the options I had and pick what I believe suits us best. I knew I was not going to have family around, so then I have two options – nanny or nursery. After much consideration, I knew nursery was the better option, and my reasoning and thought process is as follows: TRAINING: I find it extremely difficult to hand over the care and wellbeing of my child to a single person who is possibly…

Getting Baby’s RP sorted in Qatar

Armed with the birth certificate and passport, I set out to make him an official resident of Qatar. And just began the task of getting baby’s RP sorted in Qatar. The easiest way to do this is if you have an efficient PRO who is willing to finish the paperwork. If that is not possible, and the baby is under the husband’s sponsorship, then it is pretty straightforward as well, and can be done at any of the immigration service centers. As per my understanding, according to the latest immigration policies, if mom and dad have different sponsors, the baby gets put under the mom’s sponsorship. Background – I am…

The Cuban Experience – Part 2 – The Birth

The Big Day I was meant to be induced on 24 February 2016, but luckily (errr…) for me the pains started the night before. We had gone out for a walk in the evening when the pains started – at around 9.30pm. I didn’t realize these were contractions, because they were on my lower back – around the tail bone. I was told that contraction pains would be a much more severe version of period pains. Now considering I didn’t usually suffer from too much pain anyway. What I feeling was like a lot of pressure on my back – a mix of extreme discomfort and mild pain. Later that…

    A Right Time For Pregnancy..

Is there really a right time for pregnancy? To start a family? The right age? The right job? It is a question that lots of people had wondered about. Personally, I feel that indeed there is. Mind you! I am not saying that it can always be planned and will go according to our plan. The Creator sometimes has different plans and routes for our lives. And if you are blessed before you thought the time is right, cherish it, enjoy it and know that it is indeed a gift. But going back to what I was saying: the right time. I’ll explain what I mean. The Man. The most…
