The purpose of my blog has been to share my journey as a parent, and to celebrate motherhood! Not just me, but mommies all around me as well! And with that in mind, I am starting a new section called MOMTASTIC 🙂 ! I will be interviewing inspirational mommas who are wearing multiple hats, and managing it all with panache!
My December diva is Amira Ahmadi, mommy to a vivacious 18 month old baby boy. Originally from Colorado, she has been living in Qatar for the last three years. When her baby arrived, she started a quest to find organic and eco-friendly baby products and was shocked at the lack of options. There was nothing left to do, so she took matters into her own hands and launched the Milk House Clothing Company.
Explain yourself in about 10 words.
Hard working, motivated, entrepreneur, searching for ways to improve health + life
Tell us about your business
The Milk House Clothing Company caters to all the parents who are looking for all organic, and environment friendly accessories for babies and toddlers. At the moment, we have bibdana (a bandana bib), burp cloths, blankets, and teething rings. We are looking to expand into clothing and more products in 2017.
Why did you launch this business?
Because I wanted better ..better options for my child, better options for my family, and a better future for our children. After my son was born, I realized very quickly that there was a void in the market in Qatar for organic, eco-friendly items for babies. And I knew that there were many other parents looking for such items too, and so I decided to go bigger, and provide options for all our families. I believe we can make a better tomorrow by starting with today.
How do you find the time to juggle motherhood and your work?
It is not the easiest thing, but it is not impossible. Since it is a start-up, I need to be very involved, and I really need to be very organized. There are days when I have to give up my personal time to look into the business, and there are also some nights where I sneak in some work, after my son sleeps.
What makes your products special?
It’s the only organic baby accessories product line in Doha. I also hand pick the fabrics, and more often than not, there will only be one or two sets with a particular design.
Our bibdanas, burp cloths and our teethers are made from 100% organic cotton print on the front and 100% organic terry cloth on the back. The ring on the teether is all-organic maple. We also have blankets with organic cotton print on one side, and organic Sherpa on the other, in two sizes – the smaller one, 33”X33” which is perfect to be used as a playmat, and a larger 33” X 52” one which can ne used with a larger crib. Our organic fleece blankets also serves multiple purposes – it can be used as a cover for the car seat or stroller, or even as a changing mat cover; can even be used as a nursing cover or swaddle. Even our Milk House labels are printed on organic cotton using non-toxic eco-friendly ink. I believe even that these tony details matter, and can make a difference.
What is the one most important parenting rule you live by?
Lead life with love and understanding, for ourselves and for our children!

What a great idea to interview different moms! Also, way to find a need and be able to meet that need Amira! I would love to be an entrepreneur, but it’s the creativity that stands between me and starting my own company.
Yes. If only we were all creative ?
