Momtastic – Anahi Brown – Holistic Nourishment!

The purpose of my blog has been to share my journey as a parent, and to celebrate motherhood! Not just me, but mommies all around me as well! And with that in mind, I am starting a new section called MOMTASTIC ?!  I will be interviewing inspirational mommas who are wearing multiple hats, and managing it all with panache!

It is my pleasure to introduce the delightful Anahi Brown, a published author, motivational speaker, joy seeker and Holistic Nutrition enthusiast, and of course a mommy to two boys, Mathew who is three years old, and Michael who is 10months old.She has been in Qatar on and off for 8 years and has been making a difference in many women’s lives with her work as a Wellness Coach. In her work, Anahi has also focused in supporting mothers struggling with Baby Blues or PND (Post Natal Depression) a cause that is very dear to her. Remember, these issues are very real and can be very scary. So, please do contact her (or a similar professional) if you think you’re affected by any of it. Trust me!

Name:

Anahi Brown

Explain yourself in about 10 words:
A believer in women’s empowerment to change our world.

Tell us about your project:
I’m a holistic wellness coach working supporting mothers to find the holistic nourishment they crave and deserve to thrive through life and live the most joyful and authentic version of motherhood they can. It’s a holistic way to empower moms in investing in their wellness so they can later support their families into thriving.

Why did you launch this?
I graduated as a Health Coach first and as soon as I had my first child started to realise how much support we mothers need to truly care our families. With the proverbial tribe missing, we need even more to have ways to recharge and recover from mothering. This was my inspiration which then turned into discovering my life’s purpose which is to Ignite Women’s Empowerment to Heal and transform our world.

How do you find the time to juggle motherhood and your work?
Good question! My role as a mom has always been the priority and so my practice basically fits around it. Some days I get to work more, others I get to mother more. I try to focus on keeping a balance and doing it all from love as much as possible. I also sometimes struggle… So yeah, it’s not easy!

What advice do you have for women who are undergoing postpartum blues/depression?

Reach out to anyone. Find someone and try to talk, forget face book’s image of motherhood and ask someone you trust. Send me an email… Anything. Dare to say: this suck but I’ll figure it out. Motherhood is tough, depression makes it worst, but with proper support you can also get a more peaceful experience. There’s no shame in what’s a chemical imbalance.

What are the signs/symptoms to watch out for?
Withdraw from family and friends, inability to develop a bond with the baby, lack of interest for life and for the child, a deep sadness or feeling of despair, shame and guilt over one’s feelings about our children.

What is the one most important parenting rule you live by:
Do your own thing. That’s it. Dare to define how you want to experience parenting and move forward. It’s so easy to compare our journey’s, but ultimately each parenting journey is unique.
